Range and Target Activities Training

The Council offer a variety of Range and Target Training including but not limited to Basic Range Safety Officer Training, Basic Shotgun, Basic Rifle, Basic Muzzleloading.

The Middle Tennessee Council is excited to announce they will be hosting NRA Basic and Instructor courses each weekend in October at Boxwell Scout Reservation taught by nationally certified Training Counselors and Instructors. The Middle Tennessee needs competent and willing individuals to become certified in the various firearm programs the help support the year-round activities within the Middle Tennessee Council. NRA basic courses are open to all potential instructors and individuals who would like more in depth training on the fundamentals for shooting in each discipline. We will stress the importance of gaining knowledge, learning skills and having the proper attitude while having fun learning and building your firearms skills and abilities.

To become an NRA instructor: The NRA requires instructor candidates to complete the discipline specific basic course, NRA basic instructor training covering policies and procedures offered on September 27, 2025, and pass the discipline specific instructor course which have both a written and shooting proficiency test for the discipline you are wanting to become certified in.
